The word.

बाकी

Baaki is a Hindi word — बाकी — meaning remaining, leftover, what's still there. We start with what others leave behind: the end-rolls, the remnants, the forgotten fabric sitting in looms across Rajasthan, Varanasi, and Gujarat.

001

Every piece we make has a number. When it's gone, it's gone.

GUJARAT →

From deadstock mills in Rajasthan to master cutters in Lisbon — each Baaki piece travels 7,000 kilometres before it finds its owner.

We don't design collections. We design responses to what we find. A heavy, hand-loomed ikat demands to become a structured jacket. A delicate silk remnant becomes the lining.

Because we rely entirely on what is left behind, quantities are dictated by the material itself. Sometimes there is enough for ten pieces. Sometimes, only one.

[ 01 — SOURCING ]

We travel to the mills.

Every season, we travel to Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Varanasi. We look for deadstock — unsold, unloved fabric that would otherwise end up destroyed. We buy it. We rescue it.

[ 02 — DESIGN ]

One sketch. One pattern.

With limited fabric, there is no room for error. The design is born from the material. We measure, chalk, and cut with exactness, ensuring nothing is wasted.

[ 03 — CONSTRUCTION ]

Built to outlast fashion.

Our Lisbon atelier constructs each piece using traditional tailoring methods. French seams, horn buttons, structural integrity. Made slowly, made once.

[ MANIFESTO ]

Fashion produces*92 million tons*of wasteevery year.

We are conditioned to believe that new is better. That clothes should be born in factories, worn for a season, and discarded. But the most beautiful fabrics in the world already exist, quietly forgotten in warehouses. They are the remnants of overproduction. The deadstock.

Baaki is a rejection of the cycle. By using only what has been left behind, we remove ourselves from the demand for virgin resources. Our limitations are our strength. If there are only three meters of a specific silk blend, then only one garment will ever exist in that fabric.

"A Baaki piece is not made. It is rescued."

This is not scalable. It is not designed to be. It is a slow, meticulous process of matching forgotten textiles with enduring silhouettes. Pieces meant to be worn, repaired, and kept for a lifetime.

[ AS SEEN IN / WORN BY ]
"

Each garment felt like it had a history — and a future. The Baaki philosophy is the only answer to an industry that's been lying to itself.

New pieces.
*When they exist.*

We don't run seasons. We don't do restocks. When a new piece is made, the list hears first.

No noise. No seasons. No fast fashion.
